This is Betsy's working studio and gallery.  You can see the presses where she creates her gorgeous woodcut prints, and the space she works in.  She also opens her studio to become gallery space for other local artists as well as for specific events, including her annual invitational "Spring Art Underground at the Old Playhouse", which I was fortunate enough to be a part of in 2008.

Owned and operated by fellow alum Dan Grych, the DeKalb Gallery has been a staunch supporter of the arts as well as art students.  Recently returned from a time in the warmer climate of the southwest, Dan continues to maintain  DeKalb Gallery through a digital gallery/website. Please continue to visit the gallery via the link listed.  Dan is also a very talented photographer, and has taken up residence in the storefront shop "The Art Box" in DeKalb where he holds intimate gallery exhibits and sells his limited editions photographs.

The Fine Line Creative Arts Center                              www.finelineca.org
The Fine Line Creative Arts Center is a not-for-profit school of the arts dedicated to fine arts.  Equipped with a large fibers studio housing many full sized floor looms, they specialize in fiber arts, and hold an annual wearable art fashion show every year that draws attendees from around the country.  The Fine Line also has studios in metals, beadmaking, pottery, and 2-D art including books, painting, and printmaking.

The Ganoksin Project is the internationally recognized online resource for jewelers.  Their permanent online exhibits are full of amazing examples of metal works by artisans around the world.  It is also a wonderful resource for information, techniques, hints and tips, and a place to engage in discussions with metal and jewelry artists with vast stores of knowledge.

Situated on the hill overlooking the town of Grand Marais and the north shore of Lake Superior, this organization is dedicated to the arts and the artist.  It offers gallery space, private studios, as well as a working print studio, ceramics studio, and glass studio, and plans to expand to include a metals studio.  The Grand Marais Art Colony offers a variety of classes throughout the year to feed the artist in you.

A friend and former fellow metals student, Kristy Smith, spent time working with this fabulous group of artisans in Tucson, Arizona.  Krikawa studios specialize in using Mokume metals, and are award winning designers.  My friend Kristy brought her expertise in hand engraving to their designs.

Last Chance Gallery is located on the beautiful north shore of Lake Superior in Lutsen, Minnesota just south of Grand Marais.  Tom is a metal sculptor, and his studio is on the premises.  His amazing sculpture is displayed in the gardens on the grounds as well as around the country.  Marcia has an eye for incredible art, and has designed a wonderful space in which to display it.

One of my students, Andrew Vadnais, submited his works to this website.  He is no longer with us (he passed away January 10, 2014 and is sorely missed) but he posted as Midwest Wraps, and some of his works are still visible here.  Check it out - the work being displayed here is beautiful!

Located on the historic (and famous) square in Woodstock, Illinois, (remember the movie "Groundhog Day"?) the Old Courthouse Art Center is home to a gallery and fine art gift shop.  Supporting the arts is their priority, and the Art Center is home to the annual "Women's Works" juried show every spring which brings in artists from around the country.

I was introduced to A Pirates Treasure several years ago as a graduate student who was hired to work on a rush custom commission.  I've been with them ever since!  With over 30 years of goldsmithing experience, there's nothing this crew can't do!

A great source for specialized metals, such as Mokume, and several Japanese alloys.  They also carry a selection of textured metal cast sheets, and the tools and materials needed for anodized (electrically colored) metal.

Rich's love of stones is his inspiration and his passion.  For several years now he has offered a variety of cut stones to me and my students for use in our work.  Affectionately known as "the Stone Guy", my students look forward to his visits each semester, and gleefully browse through the amazing variety he offers.

This is the heavy-hitter in the metals community.  SNAG offers many resources to it's members including access to their extensive library, a monthly newsletter and Metalsmith magazine.  Their yearly conference is something that every metal/jewelry artist should attend at least once.

Located in Deerfield, IL, Studio Beads is owned and operated by Donna Zaidenberg (one of my students) and Jessica Lundevall.  Classes are offered to students of all levels taught by award winning local and national bead artists.
